NOTE: I am in no way
exempted from what am about to say.
This is just me keeping it real as always.
I have been observing something for the past one year, and I
have to be clear here, I am totally confused about it.
Really need to know what’s going on.
Here I go:
Its become obvious to me that virtually all the people on my
friend list are made up of, freedom fighters, anti corruption independent
agents, “conscious of the nation” (as Gani was called), political commentators/analysts,
anti-bully campaigners, anti slavery activists, anti religious blindness
campaigners, morality promoters, bribery fighters, revolutionists; activists of
all kind.
You name it, they are all it and they are all here.
Now this is what I am confused about, where the hell are the
other groups, you know, those ones that keep our society the way it is?
Or am I to assume that the bribe givers and takers, the
liars and thieves, etc, are not on facebook?
How come no one updates stuffs like “A man walked into my
office to have a document that can only be treated in my office signed for him
and I demanded for #10,000”. Or, “I received an alert from my bank that #100,000
was credited into my account, I knew it was a mistake so I instantly rushed to
the ATM to withdraw it before they rectify the fault”. Or, I can’t wait to
break into politics, ‘I must steal my own money’”.
Common people, the things I see here on daily bases are
things I heard from certain individuals before they found their way into those
places they religiously criticized, then all stories changed.
Above all, what I see on facebook has no true reflection on
what I see on the streets.
With that, it’s safe to conclude that:
1)
Either that the people who engage in all those
ills that are condemned here on hourly bases, are not on facebook.
Or,
2)
The people here on facebook that condemn all
those things are the legendary wolves in sheep royal garments (THAT INCLUDES
ME)
If No1 is the case, then someone should please, tell me that
website where I would go and see comments like those my previous examples.
If No2 is the case, (which I strongly believe it is), then
am sorry to say this but, planet Earth would never be a peaceful place.
Ever wondered how our public office holders are so mean,
nonchalant, self-centred, clueless and above all – dishonest?
That’s because we, the masses, are all of that.
No where on planet Earth do politicians fall from the sky.
They emerge from the society.
They are products of the society.
They are like the components of an electronic device but in
this case, placed in front for all to behold.
If they are bad, that’s because we are bad.
If they cheat and lie, that’s because we cheat and lie.
In law there is a saying “Nemo dat quad non habet”, “You
can’t give what you don’t have”.
We can’t expect upright politicians to emerge from a not-so-upright
society.
That shit aint gonna happen.
Until we make virtuous our individual lives, our general
lives would remain hell.
Summation of micro actions lead to macro effects.
Lets not for a second think that the way we live our private
lives has no effect on the society at large.
And humans are wonderfully gifted at casting blames
elsewhere, without attempting to look in the mirror like Michael Jackson said,
to know who really is at fault and who really needs revamping.
Ok look at it this way:
To the guys; remember those girls you broke their
hearts…………..
To the girls; remember those guys you drained their bank
accounts…………….
Both parties gave you their trusts yet you went ahead to
disappoint their expectations, why should you expect any difference from
politicians you just gave your votes?
If a heart could be broken, what’s a piece of ballot paper
worth?
That’s how it is.
“In a democracy, people get the government they deserve”
~Alexis de Toqueville
If our blameless mentality would let us take a deep breath
of honesty, we would realize that we are the cause of our problems.
If you think the public officials are the cause, then
truthfully analyze this;
Think of that country you assume has the best government,
the best citizens and everything, replace ALL your government officials with
theirs and watch what would happen within 6 months.
Or take all of your countries citizens to that utopia of a country
and watch how fast things will resemble what was removed.
“Get a pig, wash a pig”, - it will never turn into an
Alsatian.
Mahatma Ghandi wasn’t mistaken when he said, “If everyone swept
the front of his house, the whole world would be clean”.
Olusegun Obasanjo wasn’t joking when he said “Even Jesus
can’t conduct a free and fair election in Nigeria”.
He knew it takes both the input of the leaders and those of
the led for a society to move in any direction.
Hypocrisy would never get us to the legendary Promised Land.
“Every country has the government it deserves”
~Joseph de Maistre
This is a brand new year, lets inculcate honesty and virtue
in our lives, the politicians and pastors should be of secondary concerns.
HAPPY NEW DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
