Peace is an illusion. Peace is that possibility that gives the world hope. Peace is that Cinderella story we expect life to be at the end. Peace gives us joy, stability and also gives us false sense of tranquility.
But the truth is, there is limited peace to go round and it hardly lasts.
Over the course of mankind’s existence, wars had been fought, wars are still being fought, and more wars lie ahead.
The more the peace-seekers try to salvage the situation, the more reasons to draw swords keep propping up.
We can achieve individual peace in our lives, after which there needs to be an isolation just to sustain that delusion of calmness; and any attempt to mix with the general population, there will be a wake up from that day dream.
We are meant to be different. We meant to believe differently. We are meant to act differently. We are meant to speak differently. We are meant to move in different directions.
We know all that, but we choose not to accept it.
Man has shown endlessly that we will never accept all our differences. We prefer cocooning with those who come from the same place with us, those who speak what we speak, those who want what we want, and those who believe in what we believe in.
But that’s not how life works, perhaps private lives can record success that way but the general life we know does not, never did, and never will work that way.
And our monumental inability to understand nor/or accept those facts will always leave us drawing swords at each other.
The image above depicts a butterfly perched on a bomb.
See that as life – the way things really are.
The beautiful and famous insect represents “human soul” to the Japanese.
Two of it flying together means represents “love” to the Chinese.
To some other groups, it represents “rebirth”, due to the ‘new’ life that forms inside the cocoon.
To some other groups, it represents “freedom”, after longing to escape the cocoon.
Some say “when a butterfly lands on you, it means good luck”.
Despite all these beautiful symbolism, there sat a butterfly on one of man’s most effective weapon of Earth destruction.
Oblivious of how all the wonders about it, and the harmony it tries to create can vanish in a twinkle of an eye due to the acts of this Universe’s worst enemy – MAN.
The only good news I have on this is – just as the butterfly rebirths, so shall man keep rebuilding what man keeps destroying.
Perhaps I am too much of a pessimist but I have come to accept that in life – Shit Happens
